Has anyone else backed Exploding Kittens card game https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/el ... ng-kittens ?

This is a card game for people who are into kittens and explosions and laser beams and sometimes goats.

The project has the highest number of backers ever on Kickstarter. Over 130k and 16 days to go. Over $5M raised so far putting it in the top 10 funded projects. It's been a strange project to watch.

I took a very quick look at it the other day though I did not back it. I was floored by the phenomenal response to it.

The popularity of this project can, at least in part, be attributed to the creator being the Oatmeal. I wanted to back but the game just doesn't look good and I am not being drawn in by the hype.

I did back this one. I have a couple gaming groups that I hang out with. One is more into the euro style, and the other is into party games like wits n wagers, and cards against humanity. I think this will be a nice addition for both.

I backed but my heart is not into it, not enough gameplay videos, lame stretch goals, probably going to drop it.

I agree that I don't think it's going to be a great game. It will probably be okay and something I play every couple of months, but not something I latch onto. I was drawn in by the hype and I do like The Oatmeal. I think the way they made their stretch goals be based on achievements rather than funds was kind of cool, especially since they raised awareness for charity.

I loved the stretch goals. The way they turned them into a game. The last 3 days were crazy. I was drawn into the game fan club which came out of the comment section (Kitten Corps). I think this was the most fun I've had backing a Kickstarter. I'm not sure I have much interest in the game. I do see it being a good game for some of the literary SFF cons I attend where many times a bunch of us end up sitting at a table in the con suite (or one of our rooms) eating and talking. I think this game would work to keep hands busy while not requiring much mental work. More in theme than Uno.
