MIA MELON was born from a love of fashion and the outdoors, the unique environment and culture of the Pacific Northwest.

We do things our own way by creating one of a kind hybrid natural cotton and recycled wool blend fabrics. They look and feel amazing and have all the functional features and performance of high-tech outerwear.  

 

Our Designs are inspired by Nature to experience the great Outdoors in any weather and all conditions. Getting outside and being prepared with outerwear to explore the woods, mountains, city streets and travel the world is our passion. We offer different levels of warmth from minimalist fleece lined wool topcoats to eco-insulated and quilted interior winter coats. Elevate your style and confidence. Much Lighter and Compact than the original Style Shell, these new styles are designed to be worn in the late spring and summer. Warmer climates that have rainy seasons. They are modern day rain shells. Highly waterproof yet soft to touch using street designs. This is the perfect companion where ever you go and the rain may come out and visit. 

Light and compact can be taking to festivals, outdoor parties, barbecues, in the woods camping, beach, boating and travel. 

• We get past one giant hurdle and that was Covid came and shut everything down. We lost 90% of our wholesale business as our stores we sell to shut down. Since retail stores were out of commission online sales exploded but little did consumers know what the fall out would be with such rapid global online sales growth. 
• Digital advertising costs tripled for as period making even harder to make a buck online.  
• Then comes the shipping container vessel crises or the supply chain crises. This problem is a big killer. We just received our wool coats that were supposed to have been here in Nov. We have thousands of coats and jackets made, or being made, and mostly paid for. 
• However we don't have any in stock to sell. For the most part we have been out of size larges and extra larges for months. 

Well it starts with the Fabric. 

Unlike large outdoor companies rain shells, we make ours with a COTTON outer face. Cotton is a natural renewable fabric that is soft and resilient to tear and wear. 

DWR stands for durable water repellency and we apply this treatment to the outside of our jackets. What this does, is help the water bead off the coat instead of soaking through.  

Whether it is raining or accidents when someone spills the water or a drink on your shell at the party.

Each time we design a new fabric we test the jackets to see how the DWR performs and to make sure our binded seams hold water out. We design new fabrics that are unique and have texture and warmth.

Besides the fabric we pay attention to our finishing. Since the fabric has a tight weave, we are able to tape and cover all the seams.

They all fold up in this small carry bag. The carry bag also has a side storage compartment for cash,  credit card, lipstick, anything you might want to bring with you. 

So in one Small bag, you have your protection against the elements while outdoors that isn't taking any space

USA and Canada: We've got 2 Warehouses, one in Canada and one in the USA that allow us to offer domestic shipping at highly discounted rates. Backers with a shipping address in any of these 2 countries will NOT have to pay any additional fees and taxes (apart from the nominal domestic shipping fees that we charge when you make your pledge here on Kickstarter). Which means you will NOT be paying any import/customs duty, sales tax, VAT, etc. We've got everything covered!

Rest of the World: Backers from all other countries (Rest of the world) we will ship your items as gift rewards but you still may have to pay additional import duties and other applicable taxes to the concerned authorities upon receipt of their goods.
