Float Meditation Cushion by Zmind
Ergonomically Designed Seating Cushion to aid with Prolonged Meditation
Welcome to the best meditation experience of your life!
Say goodbye to discomfort and hello to support.
The Float Meditation Cushion is ergonomically designed to help its users find the proper posture for meditation. It positions the body, to eliminate wear and tear on muscles, joints, and bones. This allows you to focus on your inner journey.
Traditional cushions have changed very little over the ages and have many drawbacks. For example, they don't support sitting for long periods of time. They offer no spinal support, leading to curvature of the lower back and rounding of the shoulders. They provide no support to the legs or feet, causing compression in the joints which can result in discomfort and pain.
Float was designed to relieve all these pain points.
The result is a unique solution for both beginners and experienced meditators.
Float supports legs, hips, and thighs to help create proper body alignment when meditating in a seated position. Float raises the hips slightly, preventing the compression of nerves and blood vessels in the legs. The result is a more comfortable experience allowing you to focus on your mindfulness.
The Float cushion provides versatility in multiple positions. While sitting in Seiza, with the legs tucked underneath the body, the downward sloping design provides relief from back pain. With the posture aligned, the body tall, and the joints decompressed, the abdominal core is strengthened.
What Makes a Float?
Float reimagines the meditation cushion. With Float, ancient practice meets innovative modern design. The revolutionary, ergonomic Float cushions and cradles the body.
Float is made of high-quality moulded foam with just the right density to keep its shape for long-lasting use.
The hollow cut-out serves as an easy-to-use handle to make transporting Float a breeze.
For even more comfort, Float comes with an additional back extension.
Take Float with you anywhere for a better, meditation experience.
Float is made with furniture grade 100% polyester fabric with a micro-suede texture and water repellent coating.
We tested the fabric's resistance to abrasion and water to ensure it to be highly resistant to both.
The polyester fabric has been tested for 2.5 hrs with the Martindale Abrasion Test with 250g weight heads and passed.
The cloth is super durable, stain and water-resistant, and easy to clean.
Each cushion is individually moulded with 100% polyurethane foam. It has been tested at a rating of 85 – medium soft – from the Foam Shore Durometer. It is produced to withstand force and provide consistent support while being soft to the touch.
The biggest challenge throughout our design process is determining the size to fit every end user. Our goal drives us to pay a lot of attention on how the cushion helps support the body with the best fit for prolonged meditation.
Not everyone sits the same way while meditating and we are of all different sizes and body types. Definitely, there is no “one size fits all” solution.
In order to address this scenario, we have constructed two cushion prototypes, each in a different size; one will fit most petite-sized body shape under 140lbs (small) and another bigger one, as featured in our video, will fit up to 220lbs (medium).
We have on the ‘drawing board’, a size that will fit up to 300lbs and we’ll need help with sponsors’ funding to create this more generous-sized version.
In addition, as per advice by Dr. Mana, we have created a removable back support as demonstrated in his video. This is by no means finalized as we are still doing more tests with its overall shape and how it will fit the cushion for ease of use.
Another area of improvement we are experimenting on is the seat height. Some of our testers want to sit a bit higher and request the option of a pad on top of the seat to raise their meditating position.
Gathering of the many helpful assessments challenges us to study and incorporate optional accessories into our final design. We look forward to creating a complete meditating cushion system with its clean lines and fulfilling the ease of use objective so every end user can get the best meditation on our Zmind Float meditation cushion.
Don't just take our word for it
Meditating with Float is an experience like no other. Your posture is so comfortable that you can stay in position for longer periods. We asked 4 meditation experts to test out Float. Here’s what they had to say.
"The material is comfortable (good feel to the skin) and the stitching is very clean and crisp. Great design on keeping a flat base as I see people sliding this around the floor so it won't scratch or snag on any surfaces. I think your team has found the perfect shape for a one-size-fits-all. For someone that has a heftier bottom, I found this to be very comfortable." – Brian Chan @bchanwarrior
"The quality of this meditation chair is one of the best I've used. Not only does it provide ample legroom, but it also comes with back support which is essential for me in my meditation practice. I love it!" – Travis Schumacher of Healing Vibrations Media
“I am deeply in love with this seat and have been finding myself using it often. My favourite part is the density of it, it really is firm but not too firm and I don't feel sore from sitting in it which is something I struggle with as a thinner-bodied person, sitting for long periods cross-legged tends to hurt my sitting bones.” – Yoga with Bird
