This is the first project from the Atlanta-based Wunder Wheel team, so they're building their reputation from scratch here. The risks write-up is unusually honest about firmware timelines, battery cell sourcing, certification retesting, and lithium shipping rules.
Swap the front wheel, clip on the battery, attach the pedal sensor, and you're done. No wiring, no drilling, no permanent changes to your frame. The persistence-of-vision display is the showstopper: 4 LED arms, 52 RGB LEDs each, double-sided, painting floating images inside a spinning wheel. A magnesium alloy body, removable handlebar battery with an integrated screen, and 5 pedal assist levels round out a kit that respects the bike you already ride.
The environmental commitments are the real deal: extending the life of bikes people already own instead of sending them to landfill. Replaceable tires, battery packs, and electronic modules mean the wheel gets repaired rather than replaced. Manufacturing partners are chosen for battery safety, material handling, and waste practices, with packaging kept deliberately lean.
$329 for a full single kit, marked as 34% off the $499 retail price, with the wheel, battery, bracket, cadence sensor, charger, tools, and app access included. The 2-pack at $618 saves 38% and covers two riders in one household. Add-ons stay sensible too: $15 for a throttle, $150 for a spare battery, $165 with an extra charger. Just note tire and inner tube aren't included.
