This is COLOLIGHT's first Kickstarter, but the brand has been around since 2018 and has won a Red Dot design award. They already sell a chair-mounted surround sound system, COLOGCS, and Chimera is the follow-up. They spent over a year collecting feedback from those users before building this one.
Speakers clamp onto your gaming chair and sit beside your ears, so nothing touches your head. Each side has a 4-inch bass driver and nine smaller speakers, with 19ms latency over a 2.4GHz dongle. A built-in mic cuts out echo and keyboard noise, and it can run for about 20 hours on a power bank.
The risks section is detailed and openly covers supply, certification, and shipping delays. They say exactly which images were made with AI and where AI is used for noise reduction. Shipping and taxes are included for most countries, though sustainability isn't really addressed.
The Super Early Bird is about $219, which is 38% off the retail price. A two-pack is about $420 if you want one for a friend or a second setup. Shipping is free to most countries, but the battery pack is sold separately.
